Used only to insert transcribed text at your cursor in the document you have open. ScribeChrono does not browse or read other files in your Drive.
ScribeChrono is an add-on for Google Docs that transcribes audio and video files you choose, then inserts text, timestamps and speaker labels into the Google Doc you currently have open. It uses permission for the active document only for user-requested insertion; account identity, interface and external-request permissions are explained below.

Google Workspace Marketplace
ScribeChrono requests permission to write into the currently open document, display its dialog, verify your Google account identity and connect to the transcription service.

Allows ScribeChrono to open a dialog within Google Docs to manage your transcription and insertion workflow.

Lets the add-on communicate with ScribeChrono for account access, uploads, transcription and history. Selected media and generated transcripts may be stored in your account; see the Privacy Policy for details.
Scope: userinfo.email / userinfo.profile
Used to verify your Google email address and available profile information for ScribeChrono sign-in. A Google access token is sent to the ScribeChrono server to verify your identity.
Document permission is limited to the open Google Doc. Your uploaded media and transcription history are handled separately within your ScribeChrono account.
ScribeChrono accesses your currently open Google Doc to insert text only when requested. Google email and profile information support sign-in. Media you choose is processed by ScribeChrono and transcription providers; uploaded files and results may appear in your account history.
The add-on does not browse other files in your Google Drive or use Google API data for targeted advertising. For data categories, processing providers, retention and deletion, read our Privacy Policy .
Step-by-step guide
Follow these steps — they match our video tutorial above.
After installation from Google Workspace Marketplace, open any Google Doc and go to Extensions → ScribeChrono → New transcription.
First connection: Google shows an authorization screen. Approve it to allow ScribeChrono to insert text in your document.
In the ScribeChrono dialog, start a new transcription and follow the upload flow to select your audio or video file. Supported formats include MP3, WAV, M4A, MP4, MOV and WEBM.

It uses the active-document permission to insert text when you ask. Your Google email and optional profile details support account sign-in. Files you choose for transcription and the resulting text may be retained in your ScribeChrono history; read the Privacy Policy for storage, processors and deletion.
Common audio formats such as MP3, WAV, M4A, AAC and OGG, and video formats such as MP4, MOV and WEBM. Some video workflows prepare audio in the browser before processing.
The add-on needs access to the open document for text insertion, permission to display its dialog and communicate with ScribeChrono, and basic Google identity permissions to link your account. It does not search other Google Drive files.
